Gentlemen, we’ve got nut-jobs.

As it turns out, there is a strangely similar correlation which could overlie the CO2 data rather nicely…

Doing some conversions, .6C is ~1.1F; the EPA projects a 1-2C increase in global temperatures by 2050. Any melting of sea-ice due to the slightest warming of the arctic would result in a positive-feedback type situation, where the once-ice-now-sea-water will not reflect near as much heat away from the planet - as a result further warming our quaint little oblate spheroid.
The science denial fad our country has been going through as of late is really starting to bore me. Okay, we get it - you are down with the Jesus. Unfortunately (for you, me and everyone else) the rest of the world is starting to think us a wee-bit silly. And for what it’s worth, scientific illiteracy is not something that is looked for by those seeking enlightenment - be it academic or spiritual.
Should it be excusable at this point? Probably not. Will it be excused? Of course. It’s gone on since the Catholic Church vs. Copernicus; who would dare say this fad is going out of style any time soon? One hundred years from now, people will probably do what us modern god-fearing people of iPads and Fleshlights do with those who doubted the germ theory of disease, gravity and a heliocentric solar system…only they will be much warmer.
Anyway, who gives a damn? Come the end of 2012 we’ll all be dead. Suck on that, climate science.
